    Description

This is an Antique Terra Cotta Nodder.
The nodder depicts a Chinese peasant woman with a jar of spices and sticks in each hand.
It likely dates to the late 19
    th
    Century.
The nodder was acquired from the Hilma Irtz Estate.
It is shown in her book “Figural Nodders” on page 72 plates 194 and 195.
    The piece is 3 1/2" tall, 3" deep and 2 1/2" across.
It is in very good aged condition.
There is an ear missing from the foo dog sitting atop her turban and a hairline crack in the
    neck (see pictures).
