Patagonia Gritty Pack Vertical rock, ice and snow are what the Gritty Pack by Patagonia calls home. It's lightweight and compact but capacious and gear-friendly enough for the two-day alpine-style push.
An ingenious strap system down the front panel secures ice tools and crampons, and has accessory lash points for attaching skis, etc. Lightweight, removable aluminum stays help contour and stabilize a heavy load; the removable foam pad may be used as a bivy seat.
The differential-cut doubleweave ShiftLayer nylon fabric combines a base layer sewn under tension with a floating top layer to absorb friction and reduce abrasion (in the way that liner socks reduce blisters). A climbing rope can be stowed neatly under the lid.
An Autofit harness allows quick adjustments to the stretch-woven, molded foam shoulder straps and split waistbelt (which stabilizes the load over the lower back and hips).
Hydration pocket with hidden tunnels to keep tubes out of the way, and compression straps to stabilize the bladder, no matter its volume.
